John the Baptist was, according to Jesus, the greatest man who had been born. But even as the greatest, John had doubts about Jesus. Did you hear what I just said? John had doubts. John had questions. John went through a period of soul searching. John asks Jesus…Are you the coming one? Which is an interesting question, because in chapter three John the Baptist is the one declaring this to everyone. He is the herald proclaiming that Jesus is the coming ne. Jesus is the Messiah.
