Don has a rant at items in the news for the first part of the podcast......
On the music scene Paul McCartney has announced it wasn't him who broke up The
Beatles...it was John Lennon....and I am struggling to find a reason to give a
toss.....although I was never a big fan of the band they must get credit for opening the
door for guitar bands to go out and do gigs in the 60s....and also for bringing tourists
into Liverpool...a fact not always appreciated by the council....however,Paul has
shouldered the blame for the split for decades....not quite sure why he left it until now
if it was bothering him.
Joan Collins was on the morning news advertising something and she looked
terrific....I have always liked her because she talks sense and seems very
genuine...what is hard to believe is she is 88 years old.....and another celeb who
talks sense is footballer John Barnes...he was on another news programme giving
his take on racism and he was spot on....very interesting.
I have a cousin who I haven't seen since I was a kid....I saw his name in a local art
exhibition and decided to check whether it was him......I didn't know he was an artist
but I did know he was a world class chess champion....I got in touch and we met
up....he told me about his paintings and his chess matches with Russian masters
....fascinating stuff...he is now 82 and plays chess for the England Seniors....a great
guy with some wonderful tales to tell.....his name is Brian Ewart.
O.K. folks it's time for the weekly worst record ever made section.....to say this song
would never survive in today's political correct world is an understatement.....but even
back then it was pretty unbearable....yep it's by comedian Charlie Drake who tells us
that his boomerang wont come back....with classic lines like "I'm a big disgrace...to
the Aborigine race...my boomerang wont come back" has to make it one of the worst
records ever.....so here it is "My Boomerang Wont Come Back"
