The song which had the greatest impact on me was Rock Around The Clock.....It was 1956 and it was a rainy Saturday afternoon so my mate and I decided to go to the pictures tp see this film which was causing uproar at cinemas....up until then we were
subjected to Sinatra and Bing Crosby etc. and were told by our parents to stay away from this new "Teddy Boy" music.....so off we went out of interest.....when the film came on I couldn't believe what I was seeing....with everyone (including me) clapping along to
the music and kids getting up and dancing in the aisles.....I came out of the cinema a different lad and told my mate THAT is what we have to do.....my dad made me a Spanish guitar which I learned to play....started a group in school and have played ever
since.....the song still stands up today and is pure rock and roll.....and thankfully altered the path of popular music....which incidentally took the BBC several years to realise........
