Cinema is the venue for exhibiting a motion picture or the art or technique of making a motion picture. Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, direct, or intervene in social, political, economic, or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good. CINEMACTIVIST is a podcast for anyone who appreciates the power of film and craves context.
On CINEMACTIVIST, we will be exploring the films and filmmakers who use the art form to bring about political or social change, inform their audiences of important issues and perspectives, and whose goal is to ultimately make the world a better, more informed and empathetic place.
There’s a story behind every film, and on CINEMACTIVIST we will tell a number of those stories. Stories from our own films. And with those films and series that inspire us in their courage to swing for the fences, hold a mirror up to its audience or the storytellers themselves.
CINEMACTIVIST will also serve as the companion piece to everything we’ve done at Lyons Den Productions, and do, going forward. We’ll answer that question every filmmakers hears the moment they complete a project: “What are you working on next?” In fact, we’ll not only answer that question, but bring you along through the motivations and process of creating, and reflecting.
