Dzien dobry everyone and you’re welcome to Slice 5 of the Loaf of B GAA podcast. On Slice 5 of GAA Global we fly from our friends in St Albans across the short journey to the beautiful and historical Poland. Our journey brings us to Cumann Warszawa in the heart of the so-called Land of Fields! I have the opportunity to chat to 3 Irish students who study veterinary in the capital Warsaw – Luke from the Wee County of Louth, Shane from the mighty Mayo and Bronagh from the beautiful Garden County of Wicklow. All 3 are heavily involved in the club at present.

We chat all things Poland and Ireland, including the changing nature of the club in Warsaw given it’s heavily student makeup, being the only GAA club in the country, rivalries around Europe and the European Games with teams like Vienna and Berlin, talk of a GAA club in Bialystok starting and of course some of the vital questions like – Polish alcohol versus Guinness, local sausages or Superquinn ones, how would Robert Lewandowski compare with some GAA names and of course the tough choice – former Poland soccer goalkeeper Pope John Paul II or Father Ted Crilly.
