Description

Jessica Kaufman loves passing on what she knows so much that she created a masters degree in Craft Education. She has experience in various mediums both as a maker and a teacher including knitting, group harmony singing, hand dying and developing craft focused businesses. After years leading the craft cabin at the camp where she worked, she realized she could take all she did to order, organize and teach at camp and use it as a model for creating her own business. You can now visit her storefront Waxon Batik & Hand Dying Studio in West Asheville, NC and try your own hand at tie-dye and ice-dying or shop for ready-made garments and homegoods. She reminds us that learning new things is sometimes a bouncing back and forth between independent exploration and time spent learning from master makers and that when you are making it's ok to keep some things just for you.
