In this episode, The Black Culture Podcast sits down with the super talented YahZarah St. James to get candid about her life, career, and aspirations.   We discuss her life growing up before touring the globe, the ups and downs of being in the music business,  being a dedicated mother, and what it's like as a solo artist that's toured with some of the biggest names in music!   YahZarah St. James is considered by many music insiders to possess one of our generation’s greatest voices, She has simultaneously been compared to Minnie Riperton, Grace Jones & Tina Turner. Her performances are effortlessly electric while encompassing the tenderness of Adele, and the fierceness of Stevie Nicks.   She has shared the stage with The Roots, Anderson Paak, Bilal Oliver, Alice Smith, Chance the Rapper, Madonna, and many others. YahZarah also was also the featured performer on Anthony Hamilton’s “Playing it Cool Tour” at the House of Blues. In addition, she's also had the honor of performing, at the request of the Italian government, for the inauguration of President Barack Obama.  Having started her career lending her unique soprano to Erykah Badu’s Band “Camp Wisdom," she would stay for seven years singing backing vocals and providing vocal arrangements for some of the most beloved songs on her “Mama’s Gun” release. She then went on to become a member of Rock Legend Lenny Kravitz’s band for four years on his incredible “Strut Tour” and putting down some considerable vocals in his rockumentary “Just Let Go.”   Her last release, “The Ballad of Purple Saint James “was considered for a Grammy in 6 major categories.
