Thee Willie Ashford and Price sit down and talk with musician, community organizer, and Cuyahoga County department of children's family services facilitator, Johnny Parker
Johnny Parker was born the youngest of 7 children, to the union of Reverend Eddie T and Clara L Parker, Jr. January 14, 1976, in Cleveland, OH. Introduced to music through his mother, a classically trained pianist, he began playing drums at church at age 8.
In addition to this, he formally studied piano/theory at the Cleveland Music Settlement at the age of 12 and started studying bass at the age of 17.
Johnny graduated from John Carroll University with a degree in Industrial-Organizational Psych, and took graduate course work in Public Administration at Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman College of Urban Affairs.
He has been currently employed with the Cuyahoga County Division of Children & Family Services (CCDCFS) since 2000, and is currently the Case Review Facilitator. Johnny is also a Licensed/ Ordained as a minister in 2005 by the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), and serves as staff pastor of Worship & Fine Arts at Rhema Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Anthony T. Parker
He also serves as the musical director for Youth for Holiness/People for Your Life, and has enjoyed a 20 year career as a session and live bassist; afforded opportunities to play for local and national recording artists
Johnny is a Songwriter/composer/arranger/publisher, and Co-founder of The Bassmint Live (producers of live Christian friendly entertainment).
He is a former Consultant/Community Organizer for The Cleveland Orchestra's Hough Community Chorus, former Co-producer for "Spirit of the Groove" (Jazz meets Gospel) supported by Tri-C JazzFest w/Dominick Farinacci, Co-Artistic Director for the Stokes Legacy Commemoration, Community Liaison for Tri-C, and producer for NAACP Celebration of Gospel (Cleveland Chapter).
Johnny has been happily married to Laveta L. Parker since 2003.
