Alex and Willie sit down to talk with Cleveland city council candidate Cecil Ekechukwu about mentorship, socioeconomic issues within the black community, and how we create solutions for the next generation.
Cecil Ekechukwu was raised in the inner city of Cleveland, in the community of Mt. pleasant. Hailing from a large family and growing up in an urban area with 6 total siblings (3 boys, 3 girls), Cecil attended John F. Kennedy high school.
His brothers who also attended JFK, served as his mentors, helping to shape his mind and helping to escape the temptations many of his friends fell into. Upon graduating from JFK, Cecil attended and received his undergraduate degree in environmental engineering, from The University of Texas.
He also graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University receiving his Doctorate’s degree. He is currently a candidate for Cleveland City Council Ward 4, the same community that raised him, and works to enrich his community through community and business development, as well as youth engagement.
