Description

In this new episode of Flashlights in the Dark, we talk about reinventing yourself while living abroad.

How can you adapt yourself to a new country and culture?

Can you find new resources in you and have compassion with yourself?

Maybe you feel stuck, isolated, not belonging to the new culture.

How can you support yourself in this journey of living abroad?

Culture is deeply rooted in us. It is a collective programming learned in our childhood and it makes us belong to our family, to a group.

Then, when you move abroad, suddenly our natural response doesn't work anymore.  We need to start from scratch again.

We have to learn about new values, a new language, navigating in an unfamiliar culture and having to re-establish the basics.

The biggest challenge is not only to get familiar with the new culture, but to get to know yourself.

To discover how your culture has impact on your own thinking and behaviour.

Remember, our cultural layers are often unvisible to us.

Living in between cultures means to get your tools ready and open up for a new experience.

Grab your headphones and listen to this micro-shot of consciousness.

An interesting topic with meaningful insights for those living or the ones that have lived abroad.
