Welcome to Day 6 of the 30-Day “Living an Authentic Life Challenge.”
I am Tanya E. Hood and today for this 30-Day Challenge we will be discussing success. Success often happens with small wins. Like the moment that you get the chance to motivate someone to complete a task that they have been struggling with for a long time. It's when you complete 1 milestone of a very long project. That small win will encourage you to press on to greater things. That small win will sometimes give you the perseverance that you need to press through when it seems like things are dark and bleak. That small win may be the confirmation that you need when everybody tells you it just can't be done. Small wins are often the keys to success. So treasure them, enjoy them, and embrace them. I remember my final year of school to get my electrical engineering degree. That year I worked 2 jobs while raising my 2 kids alone. I attend 2 different schools to obtain that degree.
I met internal opposition which required me to gain the courage I needed to just press through because that was also the year my marriage ended. I took the win with a “C” on my paper which encouraged me to keep going. I eventually started getting A’s. I met external opposition in not having enough resources or support to help me and my kids. So I took them to school with me and had them stay in the back of the classroom. I took the win when the boys stayed quiet because 90 minutes is often an eternity for children. Once you conquer a small will, it often gives others the courage to start accomplishing some things as well. When you set your heart and mind to accomplish a task, you can get it done quickly.
I shared how I cleared up $35k worth of debt in 2 years. Clearing that debt started with a small win of clearing away $150. The small wins can be inspirational and help to get the big tasks accomplished. Here’s another component of success that helped me to clear up the debt I owed. When you combine prayer, preparation, and planning, that is a great combination for success. That combination helped me to realize I was only responsible for working on the small win because God would work on the other stuff I didn’t do. The small win brought me peace. I still sit in that knowledge today when things seem too large and overwhelming.
