Description

It's Mental Health Awareness Week and in honour of this, we will be publishing a series of podcast episodes tackling questions submitted anonymously by Burgess captains about what mental health is, how to spot the signs, how to deal with cases on board, and what services are available to help.

To help us answer these questions, we are joined by a very special panel of guests, with a broad range of experience in dealing with seafarer mental health issues.

Co-founder of Seas the Mind, Mental health first aider instructor and crewmember, Emma Ross.

For the captains viewpoint we have Captain Mike Douglas.

Burgess Fleet Crew Manager, Lucy Medd.

And finally, to talk us through the support offered by the yacht insurers, Charles Stephenson from Burgess Yachting Financial Services.

In our first episode of the series, we start by exploring what mental health illness means, how we can spot the early symptoms and the importance of convalescence when it comes to mental health.
