The opposition is always the fiercest as the task is nearing completion. In Nehemiah six we find the Jews with full momentum in rebuilding the walls around Jerusalem. As a result, the naysayers of Sanballet, Tobiah, and Geshem once again attempt to pull Nehemiah away from the task and stall the work. But he doesn't compromise! In fact, he echoes these powerful words, "I am doing a great work and I cannot come down." When we are walking in obedience to God's commands and His call on our lives, we are doing a GREAT WORK! And we cannot take our eye off the ball, not even for a second. The stakes are too high at that point. As a result in Nehemiah, the wall is completed in an astonishing 52 days, the opposition is humbled and frightened, and God receives all glory! The charge in this message is to REMAIN on the wall and not grow weary in serving the LORD! This is part 11 in our "Life After Exile" series in the Ezra-Nehemiah narrative.
