God's people have a huge blessing AND a huge responsibility to the world. As we dive off into the Book of Amos, this prophet to the Northern Kingdom reflects back on God's call upon Israel to be a light to the Gentiles. Unfortunately, Israel conformed to the lifestyle and worldview of the world around them. Today, the church is guilty of the very same thing! Amos addresses the relationship between God's justice and mercy. He highlights the necessity of truth and obedience as well as the emphasized attribute of God's OMNISCIENCE. God sees and knows all things! Our sin cannot be hidden. Our sin will find us out! God is holy and he must be worshipped in holiness! Judgment is God's response, based on His LOVE and JUSTICE!
