It's a strange thing. In the Scriptures, we are taught to both FEAR GOD and yet, to not be afraid of anything. Immediately after the listing of the Ten Commandments is a unique text that highlights the peoples fear of God's wrath and yet a command to obey and to fear God for His mercy. It's a calling into relationship highlighted by a contrast. Do we fear the wrath of God or do we fear God in reverence and awe of His mercy?
