In 1980 I was a kindergartner… I walked out onto a playground for recess and there was a kid chuckin a basketball at the hoop… I remember he had a cool hat on. He was a first grader I was a kindergartners and it was my first recess… I went over there and stood by him. He let me try- we took turns trying to heave that ball up towards the basket at recess… Jimmy was my first friend. He may not know this but it’s true. On my first day of school in kindergarten… I went out to what became my favorite subject… Recess. basketball up towards a rim. He was very nice to me and made me not so nervous about being a little shithead five-year-old that didn’t know anybody… I always remembered that Jimmy. 40 years later -we discuss two podcasts, Steven Rinella‘s Meateater Podcast and Cals Week in Review. These are both outdoorsman themed -hunting, fishing, camping etc.
