One day we may meet again
As a traveler meets another
And drink to what could’ve been
To our unlike paths that may cross
You appear perfect, fancy makeup
Perhaps you’d take off your earrings
Lose your filters, awkward smile
As moon lights up your pale skin
We may gaze distractedly at the sky
Air gathers our faint memories
A light drizzle kisses your neck
As night becomes your underthings
You may recall our youthful spring
Longing fed by subterranean rivers
Desires clinging to college windows
Our dreams together, changed forever
A twilight walk to our favoured spots
A tryst of inelegant, unseemly moments
We may share a cup of nightbird songs
Of rekindled intimacy, broken covenants
The bittersweet season of our life
We refill our soul with flowers, butterflies
Find words for our unfinished songs
As tonight’s tenderness spills into our lives
