👩🏼Sarah French is a three-time Emmy Award winning journalist who has turned her pain into her purpose.
🎥She’s been in the news industry for almost 15 years and after covering the Boston Marathon bombing and the death of her friend and colleague, Alice Morrin, due to domestic violence, Sarah began to research how to help journalists who cover traumatic events.
📺She’s a broadcast news anchor for the NBC affiliate, WCNC Charlotte, in market size 22 according to the Nielsen DMA rankings. She previously worked at WHDH in Boston, MA, and at WTIC in Hartford, CT, where she had to share –from the news desk– the news of Alice’s death. After this, Sarah worked side by side with Connecticut legislators to pass a 911 texting bill in honor of her friend's life and to offer more tools to support domestic violence survivors.
☎️Thanks to Sarah’s initiative, Text-to-911 is currently available in multiple locations. “The FCC encourages emergency call centers to begin accepting texts, but it is up to each call center to decide the particular method in which to implement and deploy text-to-911 technology,” according to the federal communications commission website.
