Description

A story I did back in 2005 for FYI Digital a no longer functioning multimedia company founded by Winona Cueva who produced the report. I was the voice-over and reported it. Its in the public domain and free to share. It is about 20 years since we shot it.

In 1946 the Philippines got recognition from the USA, It had been part of the United States as a commonwealth with a goal to build it as a nation built in the image of American values and democracy. For decades up to the mid-1960s as republic day July 4th was Philippine Independence Day until it was changed to June 12 in 1964t by then President Dkosdado Macapagal to mark the Philippine Declaration of independance from Spain in 1898
