We don’t take the time to be still, to pause, because we
either don’t feel worthy of stillness, or perhaps we don’t think stillness will
do anything productive for us. So we continue the chaotic pace and refuse to
pause, and meanwhile our souls are parched. Yet stillness is the only thing
that strips us of our false self and brings out our true soul. So our souls are
worthy of the gift of stillness.

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope

For hope would be hope for the wrong thing: wait without love

For love would be love of the wrong thing: there is yet faith

But the faith and love and the hope are all in in the
waiting.

Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:

So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the
dancing.

-T.S. Elliot
