About Brenda Lee Browne: BLB, as her friends call her, is a storyteller. This conversation weaves backwards and forwards across The Atlantic Ocean, as well as through the years.
British, Caribbean born in the ’60s growing up and through the ’70s in the UK. A conversation that touches on ancestry, rites of passage, growth, acceptance and above all, the spirit of a woman destined to return to the country of her parents and find her roots and just write. This conversation has so much depth I know you will enjoy it.
"I was born in London to Antiguan parents. I studied journalism and started my career in Black British media before moving to Antigua in the mid-1980s, where I began writing and publishing short stories and poetry. In the mid-1990s, I returned to the UK and gained an MA in Writing from Sheffield Hallam University. And returned to Antigua in 2003 and established Just Write – Antigua, teaching creative writing workshops and worked with government agencies, adults, young people and inmates at HMP in Antigua.
My work has appeared in a number of anthologies in the USA, UK and Canada as well as online. My first novella, ‘London Rocks’ was published by Hansib Publications in the UK in 2018. I am presently a part-time lecturer at the Antigua and Barbuda State College, where I teach Communication Studies and English Literature. I joined the Hub Dot community five years ago when the Antigua and Barbuda Hub Dot team was established."
