Description

Welcome back to another Classic Sundays episode! This Sunday we watched The Belle of New York a 1952 movie directed by Charles Walters. This musical had us tapping along to its dance numbers and giving us a lot of Mary Poppins vibes! But we can all agree movies without floating are so much better...so hopefully you fall in love with this weeks episode and don't float away before you finish listening!

Movie Summary - The playboy lifestyle of Charlie (Fred Astaire) dismays his wealthy aunt (Marjorie Main). After he meets charity worker Angela (Vera-Ellen), Charlie genuinely falls in love with her, so much so that he actually floats in the air. When Charlie skips his own wedding to another woman (Gale Robbins), his aunt demands that he change his ways. Dedicated to winning over Angela, Charlie cleans up his act and even gets a job as a driver to impress her -- causing her to float, too.
