The book of Numbers describes Israel’s journey from Sinai to the doorstep of the Promised Land. Instead of taking 2-3 months, it was a journey of 40 years; a journey of formation as the people of God. As is often the case, time in the wilderness is the challenging but necessary preparation for God’s people to become ready for their mission. At the close of the book we see God's resolve to bless and not curse the people of Israel, despite that has taken place through the wilderness years.
