Just having completed the Camino Aragonese pilgrimage route in northwestern Spain, I was deeply inspired by the diverse landscapes, rich vegetation, and the symphony of nature that emerges when human noise recedes.
Immersing oneself in nature reveals the interconnectedness of all living beings. Nature is an
expression of the divine, with diversity as a fundamental principle of creation. There are many different
ways individuals define God, mostly narrowed down to fixed concepts, forms and beliefs. My personal view is that God is formless universal consciousness
beyond the understanding in rational terms.
Often people would start
walking the Camino as hikers and end it as pilgrims with a different
consciousness. Spending time in nature opens awareness to the harmony and the
order of things beyond what is perceived with the rational mind as chaos.
You cannot understand God with thought or belief. I’ve discussed with many pilgrims on the Camino
their thoughts about religion and spirituality. Many who describe themselves as non-religious still felt a deep sense of awe and feeling of alignment with
something much bigger than can be described with words. It is the spiritual dimension, that give purpose and meaning to life.
When you are aligned you become a conscious part of the interconnectedness of life beyond the world of
external appearances.
In times when external voices grow increasingly loud with hate-filled tribalism and ethnocentricity, the truth of the heart becomes paramount.
