Description

The Morecambe Bay area is home to diverse communities as well as a wide range of industries. There are two nuclear power stations here, the M6 runs close by plus the sea itself is busy with maritime activity and there are air routes overhead.

All the more reason to have active and agile emergency services on hand for when we may need help.

At the moment Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are recruiting on-call firefighters in and around Morecambe. Once known as 'retained' these are people who often have another job and rather than being based at a fire station, provide on-call cover from home or work. They respond to emergencies when their pager alerts them, so must live or work near the fire station.

In this edition - recorded just as an emergency call came in - we hear from firefighter Rosie Pearson and station manager Kevin Warwick.
