Volunteers have been using historic techniques like weaving to trap trapping sediment and help prevent erosion around the Bay.
The Morecambe Bay Partnership is working with Lancaster City Council, Lancaster University and communities and stakeholders around the coast as part of Our Future Coast. The project, funded by DEFRA, is underway at Hest Bank with two other areas at Bolton le Sands and Silverdale also set to be targeted for work.
But unlike more typical coast defences which use rock and cement, these use natural resources and skills to try and arrest the decline of the shoreline.
