Richard Spénard is a Canadian racing driver who holds the record for most wins in all of Canadian road-racing history. In 1977 he was a teammate to Gilles Villeneuve in Formula Atlantic. Throughout the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s Richard dominated most of the Canadian motorsport scene in both open and closed wheel cars. He also competed in Trans Am, IMSA, and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He has been a mentor and teacher to countless Canadian drivers including Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Ron Fellows, and many more. In 2001, Richard was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.
