This week we’re continuing our deep dive into atopic dermatitis (aka eczema). Eczema is a chronic skin condition where people experience dry, itchy skin that is prone to infection. It’s the most common form of dermatitis. Today we talk about the naturopathic causes of eczema. We know there’s a gut-skin connection that plays a role in the development of eczema. We also know that chronic stress and nutrient deficiencies are associated with eczema. Treatment is similar to the conventional approach where the focus is on supporting skin barrier function and moisturizing with emollients. However, naturopathic doctors also work on addressing the underlying causes and using other modalities including botanicals and nutraceuticals. Depending on the severity of eczema and complications, pharmaceuticals may also be recommended.
Join us today as we talk about the naturopathic causes of eczema and naturopathic treatment options for this common skin condition!
