Chapter 3 begins with the remarks Melissa Lot being associated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with being a polygamous wife of Joseph Smith Junior. Joseph Smith lll spoke with her and no such thing was made apparent. This chapter refers alot to mentions of poligamy and proxy marriages and sealings posthumously to Joseph Smith Junior and Hyrum Smith, with a proxy receiving letter from women to be sealed and the proxy deciding against the requests. Joseph Smith lll aways has something funny to laugh at going on, and in this chapter he is in the company of Melissa Lot's husband when he decides to experiment touching his tongue on an iced pickaxe handle, with laughter from all round, Ira Willis, Melissa Lot's husband, rescued his tongue. Emma Smith also shares a chuckle. The Narvoo legion and weapons taken by the state and talk of horses and parades and rights and wrongs of militia style groups are commented on by Joseph Smith lll as also comments of a coloured man aquaintance of his having moved to Canada and married a white woman. He said that Canada allowed such marriage. The name John C Bennett is introduced and i comment upon my personal study of his disruption to the good name of Joseph Smith Junior by backlashing from being excommunicated for adultery and polygamy.
