We are picking up where we left off last time in Revelation 14:4. We have seen a wonderful worship service beginning. The Lord is poised to return to earth at this point. This is a major shift in the narrative of the story of the book of Revelation. In Revelation 14, the Lord is ready to come back and one hundred forty-four thousand stand ready with Him. We find just before this revelation concerning the return of Christ there is a worship service going on in heaven, and we find certain angelic beings singing this new song. They are singing in Revelation 14:3, before the four living creatures and the elders. These are beings we have seen several times in the book of Revelation already. They are singing this new song before them, and no one could learn this song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who have been purchased from the earth. Whether this one hundred forty-four thousand are part of this choir is debatable. They are singing before them and so they are listening, hearing and understand. No one else can pick up the understanding of this new song. So, it is a very interesting song.
Then in Revelation 14:4 it gives a description of the one hundred forty-four thousand, “These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and the to the Lamb. And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless.” So, we see of the description of the one hundred forty-four thousand that they are chaste. Not necessarily celibate, it doesn’t have to mean that in the use of the Greek in the New Testament. It does mean they were moral. They were not involved in sexual immorality of any kind. They are followers of the Lamb. That is who they are, the disciples and followers of the Lamb. They have been purchased by the Lamb Himself to follow Him. There is no lie found in their mouth. They are blameless. That does not mean they are sinless. Remember we find in the book of Job that he was blameless, not sinless. We see a very high standard of morality and living and these men, whatever they say, they say in truth. So, we have that picture of the one hundred forty-four thousand ready to come back with the Lord . . .
