As we continue in Revelation 16 and the final judgments that the Lord is going to pour out on the earth during the Tribulation Period. We had earlier looked at the seven Seal Judgments. Then there was the seven Trumpet Judgments. Then there was the seven Thunder Judgments, of which we are given no information as to what the content of those judgments are. Finally, we are given the seven Bowl Judgments that we are looking at right now. These are judgments that apparently are poured out on the earth in a rapid succession right at the end of the Tribulation Period. We worked our way through Revelation 16:11, and we are now ready for the sixth of the seven judgments.
We find the sixth judgment in Revelation 16:12, “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates,” this is the major river in the middle east in the land of Israel. It has a lot of history in the Bible. The verse continues, “and its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east.” Notice something is happening here in preparation for an army that comes from the east. The river dries up and this army is then able to come forth.
In Revelation 16:13 it says, “And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.” The purpose of these unclean spirits we will see in a moment. They are like frogs. They are not actual frogs. This is a metaphorical picture. We find the unholy trinity participating in something completely demonic and evil. Revelation 16:14 continues, “for they were spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.” These unclean spirits are probably metaphorical and speak of the messages and words going forth from the unholy trinity of Satan, the antichrist, and the false prophet with the intention of bringing the armies of the world to this specific location. They are going out doing what they always do: Deceiving! Deceiving the kings and nations of the earth. They have deceived them in such a way that they are going to bring them to themselves. Some places in Scripture it looks like these armies are coming together to have war with the antichrist . . .
