Description

So far, we have looked at the first couple of verses in Revelation 19 of what we call the great Hallelujah Chorus as the heavens and the earth are ringing out with praise for God for what He is doing especially in His destruction of all that have opposed him. I have a chess board that sits beside me here. The world has been playing chess with God for a very long time and has found itself often thinking it’s doing well and believing it has God in checkmate, but the truth is that God knows what He is doing, and He has outplayed them on every angle. He has now defeated them finally and completely as we come to this passage here. My friend Luke Pierce looked at my chess set that I just kind of play with back here and pointed out a tragic mistake that was on the board that he was going to fix for me. I’m not sure that he did, but he did work on it, and in his opinion, he was seeing that I had made a mistake and that mistake needed to be remedied. Well, the world made a mistake. It thought that it could oppose and challenge God. It could not. So, as we come to these verses here, we find that the Lord has destroyed those things that have opposed Him.

Now we come to Revelation 19:3 at the second of the four hallelujahs, “And a second time they said, ‘Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.’” We find that the second chorus of hallelujah is going forth because there is an eternal and complete destruction of those things that oppose God. Not a temporary one, but a complete and eternal one.

Then we have in Revelation 19:4 a third reason, “And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen, Hallelujah!” The heavens join in now because they see what God has done and they rejoice over that. The four living creatures and the twenty-four elders have shown up a number of times in the book of Revelation always rejoicing, praising and worshiping the Lord in one way or another. Now, as we come toward the end of this book, they are doing it once again and they are worshiping Him in that way . . .
