Description

We have been looking at the Battle of Armageddon and looking at the three great enemies that must be destroyed before Christ sets up His Kingdom on earth. The first enemy was the armies of the world that all come out to oppose the return of Christ and His rulership over them. Remember in Psalm 2 it says that the world has always resisted the ruling of Jesus Christ and of God. So, they continue that to the very end and the Lord has now, I believe, taken the lives of all unredeemed humanity that are on the earth at this point in time. There is a second great enemy and that is the antichrist and his false prophet.

We pick up in Revelation 19:19, “And I saw the beast,” that is the antichrist, “and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns like brimstone.” We find the antichrist, the beast, and the false prophet who have had their way for several years on earth, up to seven years, especially the last three-and-a-half. They have deceived the world and ruled over humanity pretty and now they have met their end. The Lord sends them straight into what is called here the “lake of fire.” To our knowledge, these are the only ones in the lake of fire. As a matter of fact, this is the first mention of the lake of fire by that terminology in Scripture. We find in Revelation 20:10 that they are still there, it says, “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone,” there is our third enemy in the lake of fire, “where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” A thousand years later we have, the false prophet and the antichrist still in the lake of fire, still under the judgment of God at that time . . .
