We continue looking at the Millennium. There is so much in Scripture about the Kingdom Age that is yet to come. The age promised to the Jewish people in the Old Testament. The age that Christ came to offer. The age that the church looks forward to now. There is so much, but we are going to look at a few characteristics of the Kingdom Age these next several times. We are going to look at Old Testament passages.
Starting with Isaiah 26:2 - Isaiah has a lot to say about the Kingdom Age, as you will see. One of the characteristics that we will look at this time is righteousness. Isaiah 26:2 says, “Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, The one that remains faithful.” We have a righteous nation that is entering the Kingdom Age. This is just one of many verses dealing with this righteousness. Israel was not a righteous nation in the idea that they were living for God at this time. They were in full blown rebellion throughout much of the Old Testament including the time when Isaiah was writing these words, but the day would come when they would be righteous, they would be set free from their sins, they would be right before God and given His righteousness. So, righteousness will be one of the characteristics of the Kingdom Age.
The second one is found in Ezekiel 36. We often turn to this passage, and it is pretty well known. We are going to look at this as obedience. During the Kingdom Age, the world will be obeying the Lord. Some will be obeying only outwardly, sadly, as we will find out later and the Lord will deal with that. However, apparently the majority will follow Him from their hearts. One of the reasons is that Satan is bound, and they are no longer deceived. The second reason is that the Lord has actually given them new hearts. In Ezekiel 36:26, it says, “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”
