Often, there has been long standing trust between commercial or business partners, and that trusts breakdown over time due to various reasons. Thaw Thaw feels that knowledge is key to protecting your position within a commercial agreement. Even if financials and numbers are not your strong suit, she suggests getting an independent professional to take you through your business position. This will not only give you the confidence that your business set up is working well for all parties, but it can minimise future problems. Thaw Thaw worked at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) where she gained experience in regulatory investigations, advised on financial services laws and managed enforcement actions against financial services providers. This work at ASIC saw her and her team receive an Australia Day Medal in 2012.
