Description

Barbara Jordan was the first African American to hold a seat in the Texas State Senate since 1883 when she was elected to her position in 1966. Throughout her political career, she rose to the US House of Representatives, holding a position on the House Judiciary Committee. Not without controversial opinions (i.e. her stance on immigration), her over all body of work showcases what politicians should strive to accomplish in their careers.
