Description

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish born artist who delved into theology and spiritualism to allow her art to expand in a direction no one had seen before. Her art was considered improper for women at the time, so she kept it hidden from her contemporaries, with a stipulation in her will for it not to be shown for 20 years after her death. Where does she belong in the art world, and why is she not recognized as the pioneer of abstract art?
