Born into a legendary show biz family in 1918, Ida could have easily followed the usual path and not made waves. Instead, she frequently turned down "Bette Davis hand-me-down roles" and played "hard-luck dames" like no one else could. Eventually, Ida set her sights on producing, directing, and writing, wanting to have a say in what stories were being told, with a mission to tell gripping socioeconomic tales that dealt with sexism, race, and assault. Known for her acting credits, she should also be lauded for her contributions to American Cinema.
