Mary Elizabeth Bowser risked it all to go undercover inside of the Confederate White House during the heart of the American Civil War. She was part of a Union spy ring called the Richmond Underground that was one of the most, is not the most, successful spy rings. Using her photographic memory, and unusual education, Bowser was able to pass incredible secrets in a number of ways, straight off the Rebel president's desk.
