John begins his ministry emerging from the desert being there for quite some time and he begins preaching the gospel. He begins baptising people which was something that was quite unheard of. That type of practice is not mentioned before in The Bible! It may be alluded to in the Old Testament but not actually practiced as a some type of religious rite or ritual and so John the Baptist is introducing new things. Then he turns around and baptises Jesus amongst baptising all the other sinners. So Jesus actually begins his ministry among sinners and ends his ministry for and with sinners - like you and me!
