Few publishers filed a petition in Delhi high court that Libgen(sci-hub) should be banned in India citing the reason that it is making copyrighted material freely accessible to people which is causing huge losses not only to publishers but to the authors as well. But doing this can be counter productive as this site is mostly used by the Research Scholars and scientifically curious people and banning it will stop access to the knowledge required to do research . Access to journals are important as most universities in India especially in Tier-2 and Tier 3 cities do not have the access to the journals like Jstore ,Project muse etc which demand a high fee for the access. So, should we as a country not try to make knowledge more accessible instead of banning it.
