Description

Today we introduce your newest host, Nina Basker. Nina is currently a student midwife in her primary phase at the National Midwifery Institute. She works with her preceptor, Lea Ritter and also lives in Fairfax, California, in a multigenerational home, with her partner, children and their grandparents, a few chickens and a very large, exceedingly tolerant orange tabby. Nina and her family spend their time between Northern California and Cuba where her partner is from. She has been in birth work for 8 years, and like many on this path, was inspired by her experience with the Midwifery model of care during her pregnancy and birth of her first child. She is passionate about full spectrum Midwifery care, including abortion access and support, autonomous pregnancy and lifelong reproductive healthcare and strongly believes in increasing accessibility and equity in Midwifery care and community birth for all pregnant folks and their families. Join us as we discuss skills review like inserting urinary catheters, foley bulbs, blood draws, and IVs. We also discuss our experiences with water birth.
