Today‘s solo podcast attempts to answer the question; “Is it possible to be an effective and elite level dual-code GAA athlete at club level?”
First, I break down the hectic match/training schedule dual-sport athletes are faced with, and address the reality of fulfilling all events involved.
I then touch on the principle of cumulative fatigue and the training approach that I would use as a way for dual-sport athletes to get exposure to strength training within their busy schedules.
Naturally I then go on to discuss both the physical and mental fatigue most often experienced by dual-sport athletes, and the effect this can have on both the athlete and the team.
Finally, I provide what I consider the most realistic solutions to the complicated situation of juggling two sports at once.
