The heart will slowly harden if we're not on our guard. If you feel pessimism and the wonder of salvation leaving you over the seasons, then I pray that this is your prayer for that moment. Ask the Lord to bring you back to that first love and reason for why you His son or daughter.
Psalm 51:10-12
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
