In this episode of Talking Business, Shelly Peterson - Founder and CEO of Promoting Me, LLC. and Holly Hansen - Community Development Director for the City of Cloquet are talking about the Hidden Gem of Abundant Baby. So what happens when you cannot find “big boy” clothes for your infant, you make your own. This was the inspiration for Abundant Baby, located at 708 Sunnyside Drive. They wanted to offer quality lines of clothes, sized up. This store provides infant clothing and accessories, boy’s and girl’s clothing through size 10/12, mother maternity wear, kid books/toys, jewelry, blankets, giftware, and so much more.
Starting and owning a business is a family affair Mother Colleen Sunnarborg and daughters Jenna Gilbert and Bethany Sunnarborg opened Abundant Baby in November. Their grandkids/children come to work too!
“It was difficult to find a commercial storefront location for rent, we were lucky to notice a For Rent sign in a great location that was also cost-effective, but the search took months,” said Bethany Sunnarborg.
The women rolled up their sleeves and painted the walls, refurbished the interior, and exterior of the building finding retail furnishings online, mostly Craigslist, which helped them stay cost-effective and frugal. The rehabilitation of the storefront space took one month to the point of opening.
In the future, they plan to expand into gift baskets and design and produce clothes for infants and maternity.
