Rick spent 27 years with the Scottsdale Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic and Technical Rescue expert rescuing and saving many citizens around the City of Scottsdale as well as in the surrounding Phoenix metropolitan areas. Rick unknowingly fell into the trap that many first responders do, which is to help others long before they help themselves or even admit they need help. Due to the many years of compounding trauma he was exposed to, Rick ended up committing suicide, but luckily it was the only thing he was ever unsuccesful at. Rick is now retired and has a personal mission to spread his message, break the stigma of mental health and to empower those who need help to ask for help. The stigma of mental health has cost too many of our population and first responders to end their lives.
