Description

Read by Giuliana F. in year 4. This poem was written by a year 5 class in 2016. Each pupil contributed with one line to this collective poem. Lucy Riley (Mrs Riley) was there as well making sure that each child felt that whenever they put their hand up someone would come and help them find the words, the numbers, the pencil but most importantly the kind words of encouragement that they knew Mrs Riley would bring to them. All of us, staff and children, who were fortunate enough to share a classroom with Lucy Riley, know that she will always be part of Saint Gregory's and that she continues to inspire us every day.
My magic box
I will put in the box
A tooth as sharp as a knife
The dancing spark of an electric guitar
The seven seas
I will put in the box
The loudest purr of a cat
A hall that will never end
The sunlight shining bright
I will put in the box
The loud bark of a shadow
The sound of a thousand horses dancing
Echoes of a million voices
I will put in the box
The hair of a chicken’s wig
A diamond encrusted ring
The sour taste of a golden apple
I will put in the box
A sparkling light from a gem
The beautiful Amazon
The hat of a bat
I will put in the box
The scream of a shadow
A biting toothbrush
The first footstep of the first person
I will put in the box
A thousand flying carpets
The hair of an ant
A dog playing games on a computer
I will put in the box
A hair stick man
My grief and keep it shut tight
The promise of happiness in every dawn
I will put in the box
The sound of a giggling baby
The smile of my little sister
The embrace of my mum’s breath
I will put in the box
The last snowflake of winter
