We’re back with "PICTURE THIS," an exploration through every Best Picture nominee ever. This month, hosts Dylan Randazzo and Chadwick Webb are looking at the nominees of 1927/28 (for the 1929 ceremony). That was the first ever Oscars ceremony, in which there were TWO Best Picture categories: "Outstanding Picture" and "Unique and Artistic Picture." So we decided to check out all of the films nominated for both categories. In the "Outstanding Picture" category, we have "7th Heaven," "The Racket," and "Wings," and for the "Unique and Artistic Picture" category, we have "Chang," "The Crowd," and "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans."
We break down each nominee individually, discuss some other notable 1927/28 movies, and in the end, we will rank the nominees ourselves to determine OUR Best Picture winner of 1927/28. We will also award prizes to our best actors and actresses of these six films.
Also, make sure to stick around for the end, where we will announce NEXT month's year in Oscars history.
