Have you ever wondered what it is like being a gay man, particularly for those men who lived through the challenging times of the 70's, 80's and in to the 90's - the period when being gay was still outlawed in many places and when AIDS first came on the scene?
In this special episode Mal and Rich invite two men - Kris and Geoff - to share their experiences of how it has been to grow up and live as gay men in the Western world. As men in their 40's and 50's they take us through their own personal journeys of acceptance, both within themselves and society, as being gay has shifted from being a maligned, and even feared part of society, to one that is much more accepted and integrated (although there is still much work to be done there!).
Throughout this episode they share their very real experiences of the difficulties brought about by the misunderstanding of the past and what it means to be gay, while also sharing the possibilities that lie for us in the future as we become more open and inclusive. We hope you listen and enjoy this episode as part the ManReimagined project - a project where we seek to shed light on all the unknown experiences of what it is like to be a man in the 21st century, and as we do so we hope to enlighten us all....
