By the end of the Revolutionary War, the Loyalists were relocated by the British to Canada, in an evacuation from New York. Patience Rose Switzer was acknowledged in her role during the Battle of Saratoga many years later by the British government. This is her story and although I have taken historical liberties placing her in the Oak tree, the basic facts of her father's statements, the evacuation, the refugee camp, her marriage certificate, and her reward are historical facts.
